Men’s Tennis Set To Open The Season On Clay At The River Forest Invitational

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's tennis team will head to Chicago Friday through Sunday to compete in the USTA River Forest Collegiate Tennis Invitational in River Forest, Illinois, to officially open the 2019-20 season.

Matches over the weekend will be played at two venues, with the primary being the River Forest Tennis Club and additional matches will be set at the Oak Park Tennis Center. All matches will be played on clay and the tournament has an eight-team field including Green Bay, Northern Illinois, Saint Louis, UIC, Valparaiso, Western Michigan, Youngstown State and the Redbirds.

"I am excited to get the fall season started with a great event up in Chicago," ISU head coach Mark Klysner said. "It's a pretty neat experience for the guys staying with host families and having the tournament played on clay. I'm not concerned with results this weekend, but more that we compete hard and make some positive strides each day."

Results, photos and video throughout the weekend can be found on the official River Forest Collegiate Tennis Invitational Facebook page. After this weekend's action, the Redbirds will continue their fall tournament slate beginning Friday, Oct. 4 at the Western Michigan Invitational.
