ST. LOUIS – Junior Jack Anstey was named the Missouri Valley Conference men's cross country Runner of the Week after winning the men's 8K at the Illinois State Invite, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Anstey ran to the first cross country victory of his career in a personal-best time of 24:41.1, 27-second improvement from his previous-best time.
Not only is Anstey's time the top for the Redbirds this season, but he also has the best 8K time in the Valley by nearly seven seconds.
A First-Team All-American on the track, Anstey's Runner of the Week honor brings his MVC weekly award count to seven, however, this award marks his first weekly league honor in cross country.
