NORMAL, Ill. – The No. 16 ranked Illinois State football team will look to bounce back from a season-opening defeat at Northern Illinois, when the Redbirds host Morehead State in the 2019 home opener Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Hancock Stadium. Illinois State head coach Brock Spack will preview the matchup with the Eagles on Thursday at The Brock Spack Show, presented by Bud Light, live from Schooners in Bloomington beginning at 6 p.m.
Ranked No. 16 both the AFCA Coaches poll and the STATS FCS Top 25, the Redbirds open the 2019 home slate against the Morehead State Eagles from the Pioneer Football League. The Redbirds and the Eagles last met in 2011, with the Redbirds picking up a 52-21 win over the Eagles to take a 2-1 series advantage. The contest will be the first of two non-conference matchups at home for the Redbirds, who host Northern Arizona on Sept. 21.
Coach Spack will talk with co-hosts Dick Luedke and Ted Schmitz and welcome senior offensive lineman Jared Rients to the show as this week's player guest. The Minonk, Illinois, native has been a three-year starter on the offensive line for the Redbirds and was a big part of James Robinson's success on the ground the past two seasons.Â
