ST. LOUIS – For the first time this season, an Illinois State swimmer has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week. The league office announced on Tuesday that senior Jensen Keck has earned the title for her performance at Florida Gulf Coast on Jan. 4.
"Jensen receiving MVC Swimmer of the Week after racing some very talented women's teams at FGCU is well deserved," head coach Caitlin Hamilton commented. "As a senior, she completely bought into our new approach and is driven to make this her best season yet."
Illinois State wrapped up non-conference competition against mid-major powerhouses FGCU, Liberty and Tulane in Fort Myers, Florida, on Jan. 4. The DeKalb, Illinois, native was the Redbirds' top overall finisher, turning in a fourth-place performance in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.06.
ISU returns to action this weekend, when it hosts UNI at Horton Pool on Saturday at 12 p.m. The Redbirds will recognize the program's seven seniors ahead of the home finale.
