ST. LOUIS – Junior Juliunn Redmond was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. This is Redmond's first weekly conference honor and the third time this year the team has had a player recognized.
Redmond recorded 14 points and six rebounds in both of Illinois State's games over the weekend as the Redbirds split a pair of MVC contests. Redmond was responsible for all six of ISU's overtime points in their narrow loss to Drake on Friday, 69-67. She also shot 50 percent from behind the three-point line and went a perfect 9-of-9 from the charity stripe in the two-game span.
The junior is averaging 11.9 points and 6.3 rebounds in Valley play, scoring in double figures in five of the last six games.
