NORMAL, Ill. – Last Saturday's scrimmage was tough one for the Redbird football program, lasting nearly two hours and consisting of over 100 plays. As camp nears its end, this week's intrasquad matchup was much more efficient at 70 plays on a windy Saturday morning at Hancock Stadium.
Scrimmage Notes:
•   Various scenarios were covered during this week's scrimmage, including live kickoff coverages in both directions to account for the strong winds at the stadium, driving the field, red-zone work and 2-minute situations.
•   The defense combined for four sacks, 14 tackles-for-loss, six pass breakups, and two interceptions on the day, while the Redbird quarterbacks averaged 7.4 yards per completion on the day.
Scoring Summary:
•   The first score of the day was on a 46-yard yard field goal by JT Bohlken, following a near-touchdown pass in the back of the endzone by Tristan Bailey that was ruled incomplete.
•   In red zone session, the offense found the end zone when Brady Davis connected with Kevin Brown out of the backfield for a three-yard score.
•   Another field by Bohlken, this one from 38 yards, put points on the board once again for the offense on the next red zone possession.Â
•   The red zone efficiency continued for the offense, as Jackson Waring found TreShawn Watson for a 10-yard touchdown pass on the next possession to give the Red Team scores in three-straight possessions.Â
•   A 21-yard field goal by Aidan Bresnahan in the second red zone period gave the Redbirds their third field goal make of the morning.
•   The day's scoring came to an end when Britton Morris found Watson for a 4-yard touchdown pass, his second receiving touchdown of the scrimmage.
•   The defense spoiled the final two scoring opportunities of the day, as Lavoise-Deontae McCoy and Charles Woods recorded back-to-back interceptions to bring the scrimmage to an end.
