NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State junior Caroline Lecoeur led the Redbirds at the University of Illinois-Chicago's annual diving invitational at UIC Natatorium on Saturday.
"Meets like this one are very important steps in the process, especially this close to the MVC Championships," said head diving coach Phil Hoffmann. "Results and scores might not be exactly where we want them, but it gives us a lot of valuable takeaways to build on. It was a good final tune-up, before our championship segment."
Lecoeur posted a 10th- and 12th-place finish in the 1-meter (228.95) and 3-meter (228.35) diving events, respectively. Freshman Kamryn Blake finished closely behind the veteran, turning in an 11th-place performance in the 1-meter (226.50) and finished 16th overall in the 3-meter (199.70) event. Andie Bernhardt finished in the top 20 in the 1-meter (167.10), while Emma Butts posted scores of 151.85 and 167.50 in the 1-meter and 3-meter, respectively.
The full swimming and diving team will join forces at the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, Feb. 19-22, in Columbia, Missouri.
