ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Senior David Perkins has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for the fourth time in the 2019-20 season.
The honor is given to Perkins after his performance at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate, where he scored 211 (-5) and tied for 15th out of 79 individual golfers. The Redbirds tied for ninth with a score of 865 (+1) after competing against three of the top 50 ranked teams in the nation.
This is Perkin's 11th Golfer of the Week honor of his career, surpassing alumni golfer Trent Wallace for most among Redbird athletes. He is also in a three-way tie for second-most Golfer of the Week honors in the Missouri Valley Conference. Wichita State golfer Dustin Garza has the most with 14.
Men's golf is no stranger to this honor this season. In the fall, junior Joesph Hodgson received one on top of Perkin's three, bringing the total in the 2019-20 season to six.
The team returns to the field Mar. 14-15 when they compete in the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
