ST. LOUIS – Kameesha Smith earned her second MVC Field Athlete of the Week honor of the 2020 indoor campaign, after posting an impressive performance in the high jump at the Iowa State Classic over the weekend.
Clearing a personal-best mark for the second time this season, Smith continued her undefeated streak in the high jump this year with her third victory of the season. Smith, who barely clipped the 1.81 meters bar that would have tied the school record, cleared a personal-best 1.78 meters (5-10) to move up to the No. 4 spot in Illinois State track & field history.
Leading the Valley by two inches, Smith not only has the top spot in the MVC, but also ranks among the best in the nation, currently sitting T-No. 23.
A native of South Holland, Illinois, Smith has been named the MVC Field Athlete of the Week three times in her career, including twice just this season.
