Redbirds Drop Doubleheader at Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. – Illinois State (1-4) battled at No. 23 Oklahoma (6-1) before ultimately dropping both games of a doubleheader Friday afternoon. The Redbirds fell 2-1 in game one, and lost 4-1 in game two.

Scoring Breakdown:

  • Oklahoma got the scoring started in the sixth inning with two runs on two hits, including a leadoff triple by Tanner Tredaway.
  • Jake McCaw knocked in Illinois State's first run of the game with an RBI single in the seventh to score Joe Butler and cut the deficit to 2-1.
  • The Redbirds threatened in the top half of the ninth, but the Sooners sealed the deal with a strikeout to end the game.
