NORMAL – Illinois State head men's basketball head coach Dan Muller has announced the addition of Dusan Mahorcic, who signed his National Letter of Intent to play for the Redbirds starting in the 2020-2021 season.
"Dusan is a 6-10 athletic post player who can really run the floor," said Muller. "He is physical, very competitive, and I believe will continue to develop into a terrific all-around player. I'm so excited to welcome Dusan to the Redbird basketball family."
In his lone season at Moberly Area he averaged 9.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, making 59.1 percent of his shots from the field while adding 33 blocked shots. He had 16 double-digit scoring games on the year, including a season-high 29 points against Missouri State-West Plains where he made 13-of-19 of his shots from the field in the 110-93 win. He also had six games with double-digit rebounds, all coming in double-double efforts including a season-high 14 rebounds (eight offensive) against Marshalltown early in the season.
Before enrolling at Moberly he spent his freshman season at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, and played in 18 games with a start. He averaged 4.2 points and 2.7 rebounds to go with eight blocked shots and eight assists for the Flyers. He made 31-of-59 shots from the field and had 17 offensive rebounds. He scored a season-high 14 points at St. Francis in mid-December as he made 6-of-9 shots from the field to go with a trio of rebounds. He pulled down eight rebounds against Indiana Northwest, scoring nine points for the near-double-double.
As a senior at Notre Dame College Prep in Niles, Illinois, he averaged 17.5 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 5.5 blocked shots per game as a senior, including a 34-point, 22-rebound, 10-blocked shot triple-double in December of 2017.
Mahorcic joins five other signees for the Redbirds starting in the 2020-21 season including Josiah Strong, Emon Washington, Howard Fleming, Alston Andrews, and Alex Kotov.
