NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State will serve as host for the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country and Volleyball Championships this fall, MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin announced Wednesday.
The 2020 MVC Cross Country Championship will be hosted at the Weibring Golf Club on Friday, October 30. The women's 5K race and the men's 8K race will be run around the golf course that annually hosts a fall invitational meet. Illinois State is hosting the MVC Cross Country Championship for the first time since 2012, when the Redbird women's team won on their home course.
About a month later, Illinois State will host the 2020 MVC Volleyball Championship inside Redbird Arena. The six-team tournament will be held on Thanksgiving weekend Nov. 26-28, and ISU will serve as host for the 10th time in its history and for the first time since 2017.
Site awards were approved by the league's Joint Committee (faculty athletics representatives, directors of athletics and senior woman administrators of each institution) and were ratified by the MVC Presidents' Council. Notably, originally scheduled 2020 MVC championship hosts for men's golf, softball, women's tennis and baseball will host those respective events next spring.
