NORMAL, Ill. – For the third time in 206 days, the Illinois State soccer team will face Loyola Chicago, which has eliminated the Redbirds from the past three Missouri Valley Conference Tournaments. The match is set for Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. CT at Adelaide Street Field and will be aired on ESPN+.

SERIES HISTORY
Illinois State leads the all-time series, 14-9, but has lost five-straight matches against LUC. Illinois State and Loyola most recently met on 4/14/2021, a 2-1 overtime loss for ISU in Chicago. Current senior Riley O'Brien netted an 84th-minute equalizer before the Ramblers scored 2:53 into double OT for the win. The 'Birds are 6-3 at home in the series but 3-3 in the last six home matches. The 'Birds haven't won in regulation since 2017...(six matches w/o winning in regulation).
LAST TIME OUT (VS EVANSVILLE)
The Redbirds celebrated Senior Night (six players) with their first draw of the season. UE scored off a corner kick (headed directly in) in the 52nd minute before ISU scored on a set piece of their own in the 56th minute. Fifth-year senior Ashley Santos sent a ball into the box that rattled around before beinggathered by junior Allison Baker, who slotted a shot inside the left post from eight yards out. ISU outshot UE by a robust 32-12 margin, the team's most shots since firing 36 against Evansville in 2017.
TOPS IN THE VALLEY
Illinois State is the only team in the MVC with three players with three-plus goals AND three players with three-plus assists as fifth-year senior Natalie Vaughn-Low has five goals, senior Riley O'Brien and junior Allison Baker have three goals. Fifth-year senior Sarah LaFayette, senior Logan Ziegler, and O'Brien all have three assists.
In addition to Vaughn-Low, O'Brien, and Baker, fifth-year senior Sarah LaFayette, redshirt junior Indianna Asimus, and junior Katherine Felton each have two goals, as the 'Birds and Valparaiso are the only teams in the MVC with six with two-plus goals.
