ST. LOUIS – Fifth year guard Juliunn Redmond was tabbed the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. This is the fourth weekly honor of Redmond's career as well as the first for the Redbirds during the 2021-22 campaign.
Redmond exploded for a career-high 30 points in ISU's 80-71 win over SIUE on Saturday, also adding four rebounds and three assists. Redmond, who has now scored 20+ points in three of the last four games, scored 18 of her 30 points in the final quarter. Redmond is only the third MVC player to eclipse 30 points in a game this year and is the first Redbird to do so since Lexi Wallen had 35 points in a 2OT win over Loyola on Feb. 14, 2020.
Illinois State will take on its second Big Ten opponent of the season on Thursday, as the Redbirds travel to Madison, Wis. to battle the Badgers. Tip-off at the Kohl Center is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
