ST. LOUIS – For the second week in a row, senior thrower Logan Calvin was named the MVC Male Field Athlete of the Week after sweeping both events he competed in, the shot put and weight throw, at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite.
Calvin set a season best in the men's weight throw with a mark of 19.38m (63-7 ft.) to win the event. His mark currently ranks No. 2 in the MVC and No. 16 in the NCAA.
With a throw of 18.38m (60-3.75 ft.), Calvin also notched the victory in the men's shot put. His season-best throw ranks No. 2 in the MVC and No. 5 in the NCAA. Calvin broke both facility records at the Gately Park Track & Field Center with each of his throws.
For the eighth time in his collegiate career, Calvin has won MVC weekly honors, having been named Male Field Athlete of the Week twice during his sophomore campaign, four times last season and already twice this season.
