STILLWATER, Okla. – The Illinois State baseball team dropped the series finale at No. 17 Oklahoma State, 6-0, on Sunday at O'Brate Stadium.Â
Fourth-year junior Colin Wyman recorded two scoreless innings with three strikeouts for Illinois State (2-3 overall). Â
Second-year freshman Cameron Mabee also recorded a clean inning in relief and fifth-year seniors Joe Butler and Jordan Libman each had a pair of singles.Â
The Cowboys (6-0 overall) hit three home runs and had six players with at least one hit and a run scored.Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
The Redbirds had their lead-off batter reach base in each of the first three innings but were unable to get on the scoreboard.Â
Meanwhile, the Cowboys scored one run in both the 1st and 2nd innings before hitting two-run home runs in both the 4th and 5th innings, pushing to OSU lead to 6-0.Â
Illinois State had baserunners in every inning except for the 8th inning but never scored.
INSIDE THE BOX SCOREÂ
- Each team had seven hits, but ISU left seven runners on base while OSU stranded just three.Â
- Wyman posted three strikeouts in his first appearance of the year.Â
- The last time the 'Birds were shut out for the first time since the 2020 season opener, a 6-0 loss at Arkansas Little-Rock on 2/14/2020.Â
