Women’s Tennis Continues Road Swing At Saint Louis

NORMAL, Ill. – A long road swing will continue for the Illinois State women's tennis team, when the Redbirds head south to take on the Saint Louis Billikens Sunday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.

"We've had a long week of practice and we are eager to get out and compete again," ISU head coach Maja Kovacek said. "We're just a couple matches away from conference play, so we are looking to see consistency in our play across the lineup."

Illinois State last competed on March 13 at Southeast Missouri State, suffering a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Redhawks. Natalia Bravo picked up a win for the Redbirds with a straight-set 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot and Laura Arciniegas won at No. 4 over SEMO's Ksenia Shikanova 6-2, 6-1 to pick up the second point of the match for the Redbirds.

Sitting at 10-7 overall on the spring, the Redbirds will look to get back to their winning ways against Saint Louis and again Tuesday at Northern Illinois before they begin Missouri Valley Conference play next weekend at Bradley.

The Billikens are off to a 2-4 start to the spring, after picking up a win last weekend at Bellarmine and then falling to Missouri in a midweek matchup on Thursday.
