NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Athletics department and PNC Bank honored 12 student-athletes that were selected as a PNC Achiever by recognizing their accomplishments via social media throughout the spring.
"I, along with the entire athletics department, am extremely proud of our PNC Achievers for being great ambassadors for the athletics department and institution," Illinois State Assistant Athletics Director for Academics and Life Skills Joe Klausner said. "With less than ideal circumstances due to an ongoing pandemic, our twelve student-athlete honorees this year have shown their keen ability to be resilient, focused, and dedicated to the "virtual" classroom. These outstanding Redbirds have emphasized their commitment to their academics since they stepped foot on our campus and honoring them for their devotion is well deserved."
The 2020-21 PNC Achievers included: Alissa Ramsden (soccer), Andrea Coursey (softball), Dan Anfield (men's golf), Emma Sutton (women's golf), Jake Gillum (men's track and field), Jeremy Gaines (baseball), Julie Kolar (swimming), Kendal Meier (volleyball), Kristin Higgins (women's track and field), Laura Fitzgerald (women's tennis), Sofia Iribarren (gymnastics) and Zacharias Rasmusson (men's tennis).
"I would like to thank Regional President Brian Ray, and Vice President/Director of Client and Community Relations Jenna Wiesner for their continued partnership and desire to recognize our Redbird student-athletes," Klausner continued. "I look forward to continuing this relationship and honoring many more deserving Redbirds in the future. Our Redbirds are special and seeing PNC and other entities wanting to be involved in honoring our student-athletes illustrates that we have a lot to be proud of here in Redbird country."
