ST. LOUIS – Senior thrower Tayler Weaver was tabbed the MVC Female Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career after winning the shot put at the Illinois State Invite over the weekend.
Winning with a personal-best throw of 16.39 meters (53-9.25 ft.), Weaver improved her previous best by over two and a half feet. Weaver's mark was her first above 16 meters and moved her up to No. 4 all-time in school history, No. 2 in the Valley and No. 20 in the NCAA West Region.
She also took fourth in the hammer throw at the ISU Invite, finishing with a mark of 55.85 meters (183-3 ft.).
The Redbirds have earned MVC Athlete of the Week honors 17 times this season with seven coming from the women's field athletes.

On May 7, the Redbirds will head to Indiana State for the Pacesetter Invite for one final tune-up before the MVC Championships.
