ISU Posts Season High Score In Tri-Meet At Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. – A season-high team score on beam helped Illinois State post a season-high team score of 194.525 in Muncie, Indiana, on Sunday. The Redbirds finished just behind Central Michigan (194.650) in third place, as host Ball State won the meet (195.850) at Worthen Arena.

•    Ball State: 195.850
•    Central Michigan: 194.650
•    Illinois State: 194.525

Thoughts from Coach Bob Conkling:
"The team did a lot better this meet staying focused from the first routine to the last routine. We still have some details to work on for the next meet, but I'm very happy with the improvements they made today."

Team Notes:
•    The 'Birds started strong with a 48.550 on floor, which tied a season best and put them in second place after the first rotation.
•    That was followed stellar performance on vault, as ISU posted a season-high 48.825 to remain in second behind Ball State and trimmed the deficit significantly.
•    The third rotation was not quite as strong for ISU, as the Redbirds posted a 48.250 on bars to slip into third place just behind Central Michigan.
•    ISU closed things out on a high note, posting a season-best 48.900 on beam to cap off the meet.

Gymnast Notes:
•    Angelica Labat finished second in the all-around with a score of 38.475 just ahead of teammate Alana Laster, who competed in the all-around for the first time this season with a score of 38.175
•    Labat posted a season high on vault with a 9.875 to finish second overall and Laster also posted a season high with a 9.800 to tie for sixth place.
•    Madison Kipp and Labat each posted scores of 9.750 on bars to tie for third place overall. 
•    Kipp tied for second on beam and tied her season-high score of 9.850, while Sofia Iribarren tied for fifth with a 9.825.
•    Reigning MIC Newcomer of the Week Jaye Mack tied her career-best with a 9.875 on floor to tie for first for the second meet in a row.
