NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State's "Support Your Sport" week is live and friends of Redbird Athletics are encouraged to support their favorite program or programs by clicking here. Illinois State established a goal of raising $100,000 for this campaign and has reached the halfway mark at midday Wednesday.
The team that secures the highest number of donors will win a $1,000 prize while the team that raises the most amount of money will also receive a $1,000 prize.
Many sports also have challenge gifts that can be unlocked. Anyone interested in creating a challenge gift can contact Derek Stark at drstar2@ilstu.edu or 309-438-3803.
"We are excited to have our teams compete in the Support Your Sport week-long challenge," ISU Director of Athletics Kyle Brennan said. "Each of our teams has identified areas in which additional resources would be beneficial and we are thankful for the support as we look to improve our student-athlete experience and continue to compete for conference titles each year."
Specific Needs by Sport Identified:
• Baseball – HITTRAX (baseball data capture and simulation system) for new indoor facility
• Men's Basketball – additional meals, protein/recovery shakes, improved nutritional options
• Women's Basketball – travel, skill development, scouting, recruiting, international trip
• Cheer – National Cheerleading competition in Orlando, uniforms, game gear
• Football – nutrition
• Men's Golf – SAMPutt Studio (virtual reality equipment upgrade)
• Women's Golf – SAMPutt Studio (virtual reality equipment upgrade)
• Gymnastics – competition trip in Fort Worth, Texas in 2023
• Soccer – travel, improved nutritional options, recruiting
• Softball – technology, equipment
• Swimming & Diving – individualized mental health sessions with Dr. Megan Cannon
• Men's Tennis – training trips, locker room items, travel
• Women's Tennis – Athlete Assessments' DISC Program
• Track & Field/Cross Country – new hurdles and starting blocks for newly renovated outdoor track and field complex
• Volleyball – international trip, additional meals, recruiting, and travel
