SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Illinois State track & field program wrapped up regular season competition at the Alex Wilson Invite on Saturday afternoon in South Bend, Indiana, as Jake Gillum, Rachel Hickey and Riley Wells each climbed higher in the ISU all-time Top-10 list.
Fifth-year senior Jake Gillum ran a new personal best in the men's mile run, finishing in a time of 4:04.27 to place second overall. Gillum's time moved him into the ISU Top-10 list, as he now ranks sixth in program history. He also holds the third-fastest time in the Valley on the season.
Senior Rachel Hickey finished fifth in the women's 800m run, as she clocked an indoor personal best of 2:08.45, which now leads the Valley, as she continues to hold the fourth-fastest time in program history. Hickey also ranks first in the MVC in the mile run.
Following behind Hickey was her teammate Maddi Exline. Exline ran a season best of 2:11.13, which ranks third in the MVC on the season.
Junior Riley Wells joined the Illinois State sub-1:50 club in the men's 800m run, becoming just the fourth Redbird in program history to do so. Wells finished in a time of 1:49.79 to finish ninth overall. His time leads the MVC, ranks No. 4 in program history and No. 81 in the NCAA.
