NORMAL, Ill. – Along with warmer weather and sunny skies, the golf season has returned at the Weibring Golf Club on the campus of Illinois State University.
The course re-opened for the season on Friday, March 4, and carts became available on Friday, March 11. The ability to open in early March is always a good start and continued warm temperatures will certainly be welcomed as the 2022 season commences. For the second-consecutive year, golfers will be welcomed back with continued upgrades in and around the pro shop and the first tee. Seeing golfers back on the course again is a welcome site for many, including ISU Assistant Athletic Director Travis Williams.
"We are so grateful for all the support our golfers have shown us over the last couple years and we welcome them back to the course this spring," Williams said. "We pride ourselves in improving our operation continuously and this offseason was no different. We continue to invest in upgrades around the pro shop and on the golf course to provide the best golfing experience in Central Illinois."
During the offseason, the first tee area was enhanced with a brick cart path, flowerbeds and has been prepared for a new street clock to be installed later this spring. A new entrance sign is also coming to the corner of Gregory and Adelaide to greet golfers as they drive to the course.
As patrons head inside to the clubhouse, they will see ongoing renovations that are expected to be completed this spring. A renovated point-of-sale area with a new counter, additional merchandise fixtures, Redbird team branding, Illinois Golf Hall of Fame recognition pieces, and upgraded flooring and lighting will all provide a new fresh look and while entering the clubhouse.
"We continue to move toward our vision in making Weibring Golf Club one of the premier college campus golf facilities," PGA Head Professional Tom Szymoniak said. "We appreciate all the support our golfers have shown us, and we are excited about the continued improvements. All of those are aimed at elevating the experience, providing a private club feel at Weibring and increasing value for our guests."
Those interested in playing a lot of golf this spring and summer can purchase a season pass, which includes unlimited green fees as well as cart fees available at $15 for 18 holes and $9 for 9 holes every day of the week. The club also offers Player Cards, which is a 10-round pass for the 2022 season. There are additional discounts available for seniors, juniors and the Redbird Rate (available on season pass and player card for ISU faculty, staff, retirees, students and Weisbecker Scholarship Fund donors).Â
Semester passes for current ISU students are also available for purchase and special rates are in place for current and former members of the military as well. To purchase a 2022 Season Pass or Player Card, or to book a tee time, visit isugolf.com or call the pro shop at (309) 438-8065.
