NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball team dropped the series finale against Dallas Baptist on Sunday at Duffy Bass Field by a 14-5 score.
Fifth-year senior Nick Gile went 4-for-5 for the Redbirds (17-22 overall, 5-7 Missouri Valley Conference) as the Patriots improve to 26-17 overall, 6-6 MVC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Patriots scored twice in the 1st inning but a two-RBI double from fourth-year junior Connor Olson tied the game.
A solo homer from DBU put the Patriots up, 3-2 after two innings before an RBI single from second-year sophomore Luke Cheng tied the game at 3-3 in the 3rd inning.
DBU hit three-run homer in the 4th inning, but the Redbirds got two back in the bottom of the inning.
The Patriots plated seven runs in the 7th inning to lead 13-5 before adding a run in the 9th inning.
