NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State baseball's fifth-year junior Jake McCaw was named a First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-American®, announced by the organization on Wednesday.
McCaw is the Redbirds' first Academic All-American since Colin Braithwaite in 2018 and the third First-Team honoree in program history (Paul DeJong and Jared Hendren in 2015).
McCaw graduated with a 3.92 GPA in Business Information Systems and holds a 4.00 in his MBA program. He was announced as the Missouri Valley Conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Tuesday. McCaw was named First-Team Scholar-Athlete Team in 2022 and 2021 and was the MVC's Dr. Charlotte West Award winner in 2021. He was also First-Team All-MVC in 2021. He finished 2022 ranking second on the team with a .296 batting average, 42 RBIs, 39 runs scored, and 12 home runs. Additionally, McCaw swiped a team-high eight bases. He was the only Redbird to play in every game of 2022.
McCaw is the only MVC player honored as a CoSIDA Academic All-American® in 2022.
