Alum Tim Glover to Throw Javelin at World Athletic Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Illinois State track & field alumni Tim Glover (2010-13) will make his first appearance on the world stage, as he is set to throw the javelin in historic Hayward Field at the 2022 World Athletics Championships on Thursday, July 21 at 8:35 p.m. CT.

"I'm extremely excited to represent Team USA at the 2022 World Championships," Glover said. "This is my first major team, so I'm looking forward to competing, especially since it's on U.S. soil."

Glover will compete in Qualification Group B. If he advances to the men's javelin final, he will be back in action on Sunday, July 23 at 8:35 p.m. CT.

"I've had a tough few years dealing with injuries, so I'm grateful for the chance to throw," Glover said. "There are a lot of big time throwers who I have watched as a fan over the last several years. Competing with them will be an honor. I have two great teammates who I know are ready to throw far. I'm not sure what my future will be with throwing, so I'm going to give it my all."

In his time at Illinois State, Glover won two NCAA titles in the javelin. He also captured four MVC championships in the event and continues to hold the school record at 81.69m (268-0).
