LAST TIME OUT
The Redbirds posted several strong individual performances in a 198-155 dual loss at UNI last weekend. Three Redbirds picked up a pair of wins on the weekend as Eva Reyes won on the boards and Emma Feltzer and Madyson Morse won in the pool.
Reyes won 1M and 3M for the Redbirds at Cedar Falls with a score of 280.13 in 1M and 287.93 in 3M. It was the fourth 1M and 3M sweep of the season for the Illinois State sophomore. Reyes posted a season-high mark in 3M to beat UNI's Taylor Hogan, who was the 3M champion and MVC Diver of the Year at the 2022 Valley Championships.
Meanwhile Feltzer won the 100 and 200-yard freestyle at UNI and Morse swept the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke. In the 200 on Friday, Feltzer grabbed first with a time of 1:50.69, which ranks second in the MVC this season. To top off the weekend, she recorded a lifetime best time in the 100-yard freestyle en route to a victory for Illinois State. Her mark of 50.73 in the 100 Saturday is tied to lead the MVC this year.
Olivia Gonder also secured a victory in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:09.63 while Morse, Giulia Basco, Mia Snow and Feltzer's time of 3:31.67 won the 400-yard freestyle relay for Illinois State.
REYES, FELTZER EARN VALLEY WEEKLY HONORS
For the second time this season, Illinois State earned a pair of MVC Weekly honors. Feltzer was named Valley Swimmer of the Week while Reyes earned Valley Diver of the Week recognition on Wednesday.
Reyes was Diver of the Week for the second time this year and the sixth time in her Illinois State career. Feltzer earned an MVC Weekly honor for the first time.
