WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Highlighted by fifth-year Madyson Morse's 100y Breaststroke win, Ilinois State Swim and Dive posted a stellar performance Friday in Day Two at the Purdue Invitational. The Redbirds paired Morse's win with three top-ten program times in the pool, the first of the season for the Redbirds.

Morse tallied the first victory for Illinois State at the Purdue Invitational with a season best of 1:00.80 in the 100y Breast, a mark that nearly brought down her own 1:00.34 school record from last season. Morse went 1:02.14 in the prelims and booked an A-Finals berth Friday evening, setting up the win for Illinois State in the finals. Her finals performance on Friday ranks first in the Valley this season.

The Redbirds opened the Friday night finals with the No.2 all-time 200 Medley performance for Illinois State. Chloe Tyler, Morse, Mia Snow and Emma Feltzer went 1:41.08 to finish in fifth place. In the ISU record books, the performance sits behind only the school record of 1:40.17 set by Tyler, Morse, Giulia Basco, and Feltzer at the 2023 MVC Championships.

Snow also set a top-ten ISU mark of her own Friday, grabbing third in program history in the 100y Fly. In the morning she went 55.23 to secure a second A-Finals spot of the day for Illinois State. In the finals race she turned in a mark of 54.86 and finished fourth for Illinois State. The time also ranks fourth in the MVC this year.

Senior Olivia Gonder set a top-ten ISU mark in the 400y IM to cap off an impressive day. She went 4:27.11 for a personal best that booked a B-Finals trip on Friday evening, where she grabbed fifth in ISU history with a time of 4:25.01.
Action continues tomorrow in the final day of short course racing in West Lafayette.
