NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State baseball team stranded 16 runners in Friday's 7-4 loss against Murray State at Duffy Bass Field.
Illinois State (10-18 overall, 2-8 Missouri Valley Conference) got three hits from third-year junior Auggie Rasmussen while freshman Shai Robinson reached base four times.
Murray State moves to 17-17 overall, 5-5 MVC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Murray State scored the game's opening two runs before fourth-year junior Adrian Flores knocked in the Redbirds' first run in the bottom of the 1st inning.
The Racers' lead jumped to 4-1 through four and a half innings prior to an RBI single by fifth-year senior Dylan Swarmer.
Murray State extended its lead to 6-2 before fourth-year junior Shaydon Kubo singled home a run and another Redbird came home on a wild pitch.
The Racers added an insurance run in the 9th inning while the Redbirds stranded two runners in the final inning.

- Rasmussen tallied his 14th steal of the season, tying Derek Parola and Joe Aeilts for the most steals by a Redbird since Sean Beesley's 27 in 2013 (Parola and Aeilts each had 14 in 2019)
- Rasmussen recorded his second three-hit game of the season.
- Robinson recorded his first (and second) career hit
