WATERLOO, Ill. – The Illinois State women's golf team will look to defend its MVC Championship crown from a season ago this weekend, as the Redbirds and the MVC's other 11 schools will do battle at Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, Illinois.

Last Time Out: Rising four spots from the second round, the Illinois State women's golf team finished as the runner-up at the 2023 Colonel Classic, hosted by Eastern Kentucky University. Newcomer Michaela Kverkova tied for the individual runner-up spot, one stroke away from the medalist honor. ISU's final-round 294 was the lowest of any of the teams in the tournament on the second day, as the team gained eight strokes on second round leader Austin Peay, almost enough to cover the 10-stroke difference at the beginning of the day. The Redbirds finished with a three-round 889 – the fifth-lowest team score in program history, behind only Austin Peay's 887.
Redbird History at the MVC Championship: No other school in the MVC has won as many titles - 14 - as the Redbirds have in women's golf, while the 'Birds have also had 13 individual champions, more than double the second-highest total in conference history. The most recent ISU victory came just last season, as Ali Schrock was named the MVC Golfer of the Year in the process. The Redbirds also won during the 2013 season, as Katie Jean also earned her second consecutive medalist honor at the Championship. In a six-year stretch from 2008 to 2013, ISU won five titles, while also bringing home four individual medalist honors during that span.
