TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Illinois State baseball team dropped a 2-0 decision at Indiana State on Friday at Bob Warn Field.
Illinois State (10-14 overall, 2-5 Missouri Valley Conference) got a solid outing from fifth-year senior Derek Salata, who threw six innings and allowed one earned run while striking out six.
Indiana State improves to 16-12 overall and 6-1 in the MVC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Indiana State scored in the opening frame to lead 1-0.
The Redbirds best chance to score came in the 6th inning when third-year junior Auggie Rasmussen opened the inning with a single and advanced to second on a balk. Rasmussen was erased on a caught stealing of third.
The Sycamores added an insurance run in the 8th inning and the Redbirds last efforts fell short as the potential tying-run lined out to center field to end the game.

- Freshman Daniel Pacella was the lone Redbird with multiple hits in the game (two singles)
- Freshman Tyrelle Chadwick used two pitches to retire the lone batter he faced.
- Fourth-year junior Shaydon Kubo extended his team-long on-base streak to 11 games with a single to left-center in the 6th inning.
