TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Illinois State baseball team scored twice in the 2nd inning to lead but ultimately fell, 4-3, to Indiana State in 10 innings on Saturday at Bob Warn Field.
Illinois State (10-15 overall, 2-6 Missouri Valley Conference) got a productive outing from fourth-year junior Cameron Mabee, who threw six and a third innings and allowed two earned runs while striking out five.
Indiana State improves to 17-12 overall and 7-1 in the MVC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fourth-year junior Auggie Rasmussen singled home a run in the 2nd inning before second-year sophomore JT Sokolove narrowly beat out an infield ground ball to plate a second run.
A two-run homer in the 5th inning tied the game but Illinois State responded in the 6th inning as fourth-year juniors Shaydon Kubo and Greg Nichols both singled before ultimately scoring on an RBI by second-year sophomore Noah Rabin.
The Sycamores tied the game in the 8th inning before recording the walk-off hit with two strikes and two outs in the 10th inning.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Freshman Shai Robinson recorded four assists in his first appearance since opening weekend.
- Illinois State pitchers did not walk or hit a batter for the third time this season.
- Fourth-year junior Shaydon Kubo extended his team-long on-base streak to 12 games and now has a team-leading 10 multi-hit games.
