ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Illinois State senior Myles Foster has been named the MVC Newcomer of the Week following his 20-point, 15-rebound effort against eighth-ranked Kentucky on December 29.
Foster, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., made 8-of-11 field goals, 1-of-1 three-pointers, and 3-of-5 shots from the charity stripe, while also adding two assists. He pulled down five offensive rebounds helping Illinois State to 24 team offensive rebounds, the 14th-most against an AP Top-10 opponent since the 2010-11 season.
Both his points and rebounds were season-highs, while his 15 rebounds tied his career-high set last season at Monmouth.
Foster is the first Redbird this season to earn MVC Newcomer of the Week honors. The most recent Redbirds to earn MVC Newcomer of the Week include Seneca Knight (Jan. 30, 2023), Colton Sandage (Dec. 12, 2022), Emon Washington (Feb. 23, 2021), Josiah Strong (Nov. 30, 2020), Keith Fisher III (Feb. 3, 2020), and Zach Copeland (Feb. 4, 2019).
The Redbirds, 8-5 overall and 2-0 in the MVC, face off tonight against Drake in an 8 p.m. tip-off inside the Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa, in a battle of schools with undefeated MVC records.
