CHAMPAIGN, IL.- The Illinois State track & field squad has completed day one of the Illini Challenge & Multis, as well as a set of student-athletes competing in Indianapolis at the Jaguar Invite.
Illini Challenge & Multis
On the men's side, senior Ariel Atias is currently in 3rd place in the men's heptathlon with a total score of 3034, while freshman Ryan Schaefer sits in 5th with 2735 total points. The men's heptathlon still has three events left and will continue tomorrow with the 60mH. In the men's weight throw, senior Josh Schmid posted a season-best throw of 16.39m (53-9.25) to finish 9th. In the men's pole vault, sophomore Charles Cruse took 5th with 4.71m (15-5.50). In the men's, 200m junior Michael Marrs took 4th with a time of 22.42.
On the women's side, junior Gracie Jessup claimed 4th in the pentathlon with her final and personal-best score of 3325. Senior Caleigh O'Flahetry took 5th in the pentathlon with a total score of 3296. Freshman Adison Scott had a personal-best in the women's weight throw with 13.83m (45-4.50), while senior Morgan Wrublik took 10th with a throw of 16.08m (52-9.25). Junior Kenzie Klink had a season-best in the women's high jump with 1.65m (5-4.75), while placing 3rd.
Jaguar Invite
On the men's side, sophomore Enyinnaya Nwagwu took 3rd in the men's 200m with a time of 21.57 and sophomore Jeff Luka won the 5,000m with 15:04.30.
On the women's side, junior Mattison Plummer won the mile with a new personal-best time of 4:54.59, while freshman Grace Erb was right behind her coming in 2nd with her new personal-best time of 4:59.22.
