Swimming and Diving Travels to Carbondale for Tri-Meet with Illinois and Southern Illinois

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Illinois State Swimming and Diving team will travel south to compete in a tri-meet against both Southern Illinois (MVC) and the University of Illinois (B1G). The Redbirds will compete in 16 swimming events and the 1-meter, 3-meter diving events. Additionally, ISU will take part in the 200 medley and 400 free relay.

Competition begins on Friday, November, 1 at 2 p.m. inside the Shea Natatorium on the campus of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

WEEKEND SLATE


Events- 16 event format-3/1Meter diving, 200 medley and 400 free relay.

Lanes- ISU will be swimming in lanes four and seven.

LAST TIME OUT


In the 200-yard Medley Relay, two teams of Redbirds finished in the top-five led by junior Chloe Tyler,  senior Sydney Hoff, senior Mia Snow, and senior Emma Feltzer with a second-place finish. In the 200-Yard Freestyle, Feltzer claimed the title with a time of 1:55.04. Finally, in the 500-Yard freestyle relay, senior Lauren Wisdom took second in the event clocking a time of 5:14.37. On the boards, freshman Emma Thompson landed in the top-five on the boards during the 1-meter dive. 

SCOUTING THE ILLINI


The University of Illinois Fighting Illini swam in a tri-meet last weekend where the Illini swept Indiana State (MVC) by a score of 250.5 -135.5 and defeated Vanderbilt (SEC) 232-101. Chloe Diner led all swimmers with a top-10 program finish recording a time of 2:17.57 in the 200 breaststroke. On the boards, Elle Cristomo took home the three-meter title with a score of 260.25.

SCOUTING THE SALUKIS


Southern Illinois competed against UIC last week where they won by a decisive 202-96 mark. The Salukis were led by a stellar performance from Olivia Herron who broke school records in the 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard breaststroke and 400-yard individual relay. On the boards, Farida Moussa led the competition posting a score of 247.58 on the 1-meter board.

UP NEXT


The Redbirds will hit the road for two consecutive meets as they travel to the University of Purdue on November 21 for the Purdue Invitational before traveling to Greensboro, N.C. for the US Open on December 4.
