ST LOUIS – Illinois State senior Kate Bullman earned MVC Scholar Athlete Second Team honors, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
It's the second straight year Bullman has took home an MVC Scholar Athlete team nod, after she earned an Honorable Mention selection last season. She has started every game for the Redbirds this year, averaging career bests of 7.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.13 blocks per game. Bullman, who has 187 career blocks, recently climbed to second in program history for career blocks. She also maintains a 3.89 grade point average while pursuing a bachelor's degree in psychology.
Bullman's honor marks the fifth straight season Illinois State has earned an All-MVC Scholar Athlete team selection. She is one of four Redbirds to land on the Valley Scholar Athlete team in that time.
To be eligible for the MVC Scholar Athlete Team student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and must be enrolled at their institution at the time of nomination either as undergraduates or graduate students. An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and a graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA.
A total of 35 Valley student-athletes met the nomination criteria for scholar-athlete honors in 2024.
