DAVIS, Calif. – A night meet in California on Friday meant a late night watch for Illinois State gymnastics fans back home, as the Redbirds came in second behind host UC Davis in a tri-meet at the University Credit Union Center.
Scoring Breakdown:
•   UC Davis: 197.025
•   Illinois State: 195.475
•   Alaska Anchorage: 190.225
Team Notes:
•   The Redbirds started things off strong on floor, scoring a 49.300 thanks to two scores of 9.9 or better to take the lead after the first rotation.
•   ISU then moved to vault for rotation No. 2, as they scored a 48.800 to slip to second place behind UC Davis halfway through the meet.
•   In rotation No. 3, the Redbirds bounced back from a rough effort on bars from last week to post a solid 49.000 to stay in second headed into the final rotation.
•   The performance on beam was not quite what the Redbirds had hoped for, as they closed out the meet with a 48.375 to finish in second place overall behind UC Davis.
Gymnast Notes:
•   For the second meet in a row, Alana Laster scored a 9.925 on floor to pick up an event win for the Redbirds, as Jaye Mack tied for second place with a score of 9.900.
•   Sophomore Leah Davis posted a career-high score of 9.900 on beam to finish in second place overall.
•   Mya Robinson scored a 9.800 and Mia Oh posted a 9.775 to finish in fourth and fifth places, respectively, on vault.
•   Sara Wabi tied her season high on bars with a 9.875 to tie for third place overall on the event.
•   Senior Angelica Labat finished third in the all-around competition with a score of 39.150, behind a pair of UC Davis gymnasts in first and second place.
