NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State track & field squad completed day two at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, hosted by Azusa Pacific University. The second day of competition was highlighted by a top-15 finish by senior Baptiste Tardiveau in the 5,000m run and Mathis Chavand breaking the 5,000m program record.

Mathis Chavand broke the school record with 13:48.14 in the 5,000m, while beating his personal-best by 30 total seconds.
Late Thursday night, junior Mattison Plummer got the Redbirds going with her 12th place finish in the women's 3,000m steeplechase as she crossed the finish line in 10:34.23, while senior Claire Fuhlhage took 39th in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 10:23.80. In the men's 10,000m run, junior Zack Loomis finished 29th with a time of 30:38.95.
As action resumed on Friday, graduate student Nick Doud took 43rd with a time of 14:22.01 in the men's 5,000m run, as senior Baptiste Tardiveau finished 15th in the 5,000m run with a time of 14:09.91. Freshman Grace Erb took 128th in the women's 800m as she crossed the finish line in 2:14.93. Graduate student Caroline Meyers placed 28th in the women's 5,000m run with 17:19.53.
