NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State Track & Field team makes its first road trip of the 2024-25 campaign this Friday for the Larry Wieczorek Invitational hosted by Iowa. The two-day event will begin on Friday at 11 a.m. and will resume on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
The Redbirds will make the trip to Iowa City to compete in the Larry Wieczorek Invititational for the four consecutive season.
Illinois State looks to bounce back following a narrow defeat to Indiana State in the annual Coughlan-Malloy Cup. Despite the 157-145 point total, the Redbirds claimed 14 event wins to bring the season total to 29 through two meets this season.
Sophomore Immaculate Daniel broke Illinois State's 60m dash record with a time of 7.26. Daniel's mark broke D'Jenne Egharevba's previous record that stood since 2018.
Seniors Mattison Plummer in the women's 3000m (9:38.15) and Kiley Sanders in the women's high jump (1.78 (5-10)) captured Coughlan-Malloy Cup meet records with their marks.
Along with the school and meet records broken on Friday, five Redbirds joined the program's top-10 lists in their respective events. Through the first two meets, Illinois State has accumulated 11 new entries to the program's top-10 lists.Â
