ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Illinois State men's golf team was selected as the nearly-unanimous choice to win the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference title, as voted on by the Conference's 10 head coaches.
ISU earned 99 poll points and nine first-place votes in the poll, with Southern Illinois (86), Valparaiso (80), Murray State (65), and Bradley (57) rounding out the top five in the field. Belmont, picked seventh, had the only other first-place vote in the field.
The Redbirds have played a strong tournament lineup so far in the year and are led by TJ Barger and Alex McCulla who each have scoring averages of 73.5 through 15 rounds on the season.
The team opens its spring season on Monday, February 17 when the Birds travel to Laredo, Texas, to compete in the Border Olympics hosted by Houston at Laredo Country Club.
