YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Illinois State swim and dive squad wrapped up the Eastern Classic on Saturday afternoon at Jones Natatorium.
The Redbirds picked up an event win in the 200 Y Medley relay with the Illinois State A squad of Tyler, Fris, Snow, and Turken. The A squad recorded a season-best time of 1:43.27. The time equals the 10th fastest time in program history.
With a season-best time of 53.70, Graduate Mia Snow secured the win in the 100 Y Fly. Senior Ella Turken finished fourth with a season-best mark of 57.05. Snow picked up her second win on the day in the 100 Y Free with a time of 50.63, and Turken earned a third-place finish with a mark of 51.41.
To open the morning session, the Redbirds A squad of Kieffel, Dameworth, Turken, and Snow earned a third-place finish in the 200 Y Free relay with a time of 1:34.96.
Sophomore Avery Watson paced Illinois State in the 400 Y IM with a fifth-place finish after recording a time of 4:43.62. Freshman Megan Sego, in her second collegiate meet, earned a sixth-place finish with a mark of 4:47.84.
Sophomore Amelia Murphy finished fourth in the 200 Y Free with a season-fastest time of 1:53.11.
In the 100 Y Breast, Freshman Ava Ostendorf led Illinois State with a sixth-place finish with a mark of 1:08.62. Junior Shelby Gourley earned a season-best time of 1:09.76 to finish seventh.
Senior Chloe Tyler finished runner-up in the 100 Y Back with a season-best mark of 56.48.
Sophomore Hope Westphal recorded a time of 17:38.82 in the 1650 Y Free to earn a fifth-place finish.
Senior Giulia Basco tallied a third-place finish in the 200 Y Fly with a time of 2:08.09. Watson earned a season-best mark of 2:10.83 in a sixth-place effort.
In the diving portion of the meet, in the 3 M dive, Junior Selena Corona earned a third-place finish with a score of 215.20.
