TJ Barger Named MVC Golfer of the Week for Second Time this Fall

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the second time this fall season, and the seventh time in his Redbird career, redshirt senior TJ Barger has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week after his performance at the Dayton Flyer Invitational.

At the fall season-ending tournament, Barger finished tied for sixth with an even-par three-round score of 213 on the par-71 NCR South Country Club course. He had rounds of 73, 69, and 71 for his 213, and he now has 11 rounds this season with a score at or under par over the 15 rounds of the fall season. His 40 career rounds at or under par are tied for the fifth-most in school history, alongside Zach Burry (2014-18).

This season he is averaging 70.1 strokes per round, with four top-10 finishes in five events. He has 10 career top-10 finishes, with seven inside of the top five – two of those this season. His stroke average is on pace to be the second-lowest single-season stroke average in program history, and his career stroke average of 72.4 is a shade off the career record held by David Perkins.

With the fall season complete, the Redbirds set their sights on the spring season, which begins on Monday, February 16 at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas.
