Redbird Gymnastics Adds Five Standouts To 2026-27 Roster

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State gymnastics head coach Cassandra Ringers has announced the signing of five gymnasts to her program on Thursday, with the additions of Lyla Briggs (Olathe, Kan.),Carmen Derriso (Sylvania, Ga.), Sophia Mapstone (Stillwater, Minn.), Lily Price (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) and Paige Reitan (Miller Place, N.Y.) to the 2026-27 roster.

Lyla Briggs / Olathe, Kan. / Blue Valley West HS / Xtreme Gymnastics 
•    2025 Level 10 National Qualifier
•    2025 Regional champion on the floor, posting a season-best score of 9.55
•    2024 Level 10 National Qualifier, placing third on the floor with a season-high score of 9.725
•    Member of the National Honor Society and a Student Ambassador at Blue Valley West HS

•    2025 Georgia State Level 10 qualifier and bars champion
•    2024 Georgia State Level 10 qualifier, earning second place on beam
•    2023 Georgia State Level 10 qualifier

"Carmen comes to Normal boasting a powerful vault and some of the most difficult uneven bars combinations in the NCAA. Together, her outstanding character and athletic abilities will be invaluable to the continued development of Redbird gymnastics. Sophia Mapstone / Stillwater, Minn. / Hill-Murray HS / Flips Gymnastics
•    2025 Level 10 National qualifier, helping her team to a Level 10 second-place finish at the state meet
•    2024 Level 10 National qualifier and led team to a Level 10 state championship
•    2023 Level 9 Westerns qualifier and floor champion, with a third-place finish in the all-around
•    2023 Level 9 Regional champion in the all-around and helped team to a state championship

•    2025 Level 10 National qualifier, posting a high score of 36.8 in the all-around during the season
•    2025 State and Regional qualifier as well, with best event score coming on bars at 9.575
•    2024 Level 10 State and Regional qualifier
•    Posted a season-best score in the all-around of 36.175 in 2023-24

Paige Reitan / Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place HS / Apex Athletics
•    2025 Level 10 National qualifier, helping team to a 4th place finish at the state meet with an all-around score of 37.075 and a vault score of 9.725
•    2024 Level 10 DP Nationals qualifier, where she placed 32nd overall
•    Helped lead team to a state championship in 2024 in New York
•    2023 Level 9 State and Regional qualifier and vault champion, ranking in the Top 100 in the country on vault
