NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State swim and dive closed out day three of the Miami Invitational, Friday afternoon, from the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center.
Senior Mia Snow opened day three for Illinois State by securing a runner-up finish in the 100 Y Fly prelims with a time of 53.75. Senior Giulia Basco, the Redbirds' highest finisher in the event, secured a season-best time of 56.50.
Snow added another runner-up finish in the 100 Y Fly Finals with a mark of 53.64. Senior Ella Turken recorded a top-10 mark in program history in the same event with a time of 56.04. With her time, Turken tallied her second top-10 mark of the Miami Invitational.
The Redbirds added another top-10 mark with a seventh-place finish in the 200 Y Medley Relay as Illinois State's 'A' squad of Tyler, Fris, Snow, and Turken finished with a mark of 1:42.63.
In the 400 Y IM prelims, Sophomore Hope Westphal led the way for Illinois State with a 15th-place finish with a mark of 4:32.98. In the finals of the event, Sophomore Avery Watson recorded her fastest time of the season with a time of 4:39.73.
Sophomore Amelia Murphy paced Illinois State in the 200 Y Free prelims with a time of 1:52.22, a season-best mark.
Senior Chloe Tyler earned an 11th-place finish in the 100 Y Back prelims with a season-best time of 55.90. Tyler was one of four Redbirds to score their fastest time of the season in the event.
Freshman Ava Ostendorf recorded a season-best time of 1:04.99 in the 100 Y Breast as the highest finishing Redbird in the event.
In the 1M Dive, Junior Selena Corona earned a mark of 216.05 to secure a ninth-place finish. Sophomore Emma Thompson earned a runner-up finish with a score of 214.50.
The Redbirds currently remain in sixth place with 388.5 points entering day four on Saturday.
