Redbirds Fly Past Colonels for Sixth Consecutive Win

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State never trailed as the team picked up its sixth consecutive win with an 89-78 win over the Eastern Kentucky Colonels, as the Redbirds have secured the program's longest win streak since the 2016-17 season.


HOW IT HAPPENED

The Redbirds scored the first five points of the game, and never trailed in the opening half. After stretching to a 10-point, 14-4 lead, Eastern Kentucky rallied back, tying the score at 20-20. From there ISU would score the next 13 points with the lead reaching its zenith at 14 before EKU closed the half strong, making 9-of-14 long range shots in the first half including making their last five, as ISU went into the locker room with a 49-41 lead at the break.

ISU extended its lead to as many as 18 points before the Colonels started chipping away at the deficit, getting to within as few as four points before ISU iced the game with a Kinziger three-pointer and a 6-for-6 finish from the charity stripe in ISU's 11-point, 89-78 win.
