COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Illinois State track & field program completed the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The men's 4x400m relay team made up of Nwagwu, Welch, Paul, and Ward broke the Illinois State school record with a time of 3:10.90. The Redbird's mark is the fastest in program history since 2018.
In the men's 3000m, Illinois State saw three Redbirds climb the program's top-10 list. Senior Zack Loomis moved to fifth all-time with a time of 8:07.54. Junior Yusuf Baig entered the top-10 list at seventh with a mark of 8:10.37. In his first collegiate 3000m Freshman Julian Baker ran a time of 8:12.49 which moved him to eighth in school history.
Along with setting the program record in the 4x400m relay, Junior Jake Welch and Freshman Zach Paul entered the Illinois State top-10 list with times of 47.82 and 48.04.
In the heptathlon, Senior Ariel Atias closed out the multi event with a point total of 5314, a season best. Sophomore Ryan Schaefer also finished with 4927 with personal records in the 1000m and 60m hurdles.
In the men's shot put, Sophomore Cole Stevens made a throw of 16.41m (53-10.25). Stevens' mark is a personal best in his indoor career. On the women's side Sophomore Adi Scott tallied a personal best mark of 12.92m (42-4.75).
Sophomore Grace Erb ran a personal record with a mark of 2:12.17 in the women's 800m to earn a fifth-place finish.
In the women's 60m hurdles, Junior Macee Rivers made her season debut running a time of 8.83 for an eighth-place finish.

The Redbirds will stay in the Bloomington-Normal area as they head to Illinois-Wesleyan for the Keck Select Invitational. Action is set to begin on Friday, Feb. 7.
