NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Illinois State Track & Field program completed day one of the Music City Challenge Friday evening in Nashville.
Across the first day of the competition, seven Redbirds entered/moved up the program's top-10 list for their events. That total is the single most in one meet day for Illinois State this season and across the 2024-25 so far 36 Redbirds have reached a top-10 mark in program history.
Junior Karlie Stauder picked up where she left off from last week at the Keck Select as she cleared the bar at 3.72m (12-2.5) improving on the mark that saw her join the top 10. Stauder now sits ninth in Illinois State history for women's pole vault.
Sophomore Grace Erb entered the program's top-10 list for the women's mile with a mark of 4:50.50. Erb's mark now sits 10th all-time in Illinois State history.Â
Junior Star Mpama earned her second top-10 mark of the season after she ran a time of 1:32.41 in the 600m run. Mpama improved on her mark of 1:32.98 that she previously set at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational at Iowa in January.
Juniors Erin Starks and Lindsey Miller recorded top-10 times in the women's 200m dash. Starks ran a time of 24.03, as Miller finished with a mark of 24.17. The pairing now sits fourth and fifth in Redbird history.
On the men's side in the 200m dash, Freshman Zach Paul tallied a top-10 mark with a time of 21.62. Paul has recorded four top-10 marks across four events which include the 60m dash, 200m dash, 400m dash, and 4x400m relay. His total is also the most of any Redbird this season.
Sophomore Brody Squires added his name to the program's top-10 list after recording a jump of 7.29m (23-11).
