PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – Illinois State closed out the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge with one of its best games of the season, as the Redbirds collected 10 hits and pitcher Hannah Meshnick tossed a shutout in a 3-0 win over North Dakota State on the final day of action at Nancy Almaraz Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Redbirds plated a run in the top of the third inning to take the lead, when Abby Knight reached on a fielding error which allowed Ella Boyer to come across the plate for the first run of the game. ISU would then add two more runs in the top of the fifth inning, when Larson drove in a pair of runs on an RBI single to left field to make it 3-0. From there, Meshnick continued to weave her gem in the circle and held the Bison scoreless allowing eight hits while striking out two to pick up her second complete game win of the season.
ON DECK
Illinois State will head to Tennessee next weekend to compete in the UT-Chattanooga Invitational where they will play five games over the weekend. They will open on Friday with games against fellow MVC member Indiana State and the host Mocs, followed by a pair of games on Saturday against Southeast Missouri State and Lamar. They will wrap up the weekend on Sunday with a second game against Lamar before heading home.
