NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Basketball Coaches Show, presented by The O'Brien Auto Team, featuring Illinois State men's basketball head coach Ryan Pedon and women's basketball head coach Kristen Gillespie, will air tonight live at Rob Dob's Restaurant and Bar in Bloomington.
Fans unable to attend the show can listen on WJBC 1230 AM, the Varsity Network, and on GoRedbirds.com., as Pedon and Gillespie recap last week's action and look ahead in MVC play this week.
Gillespie's segment of the show, hosted by Greg Halbleib, starts at 6 p.m. She will be joined by sophomore forward Savannah McGowan, who has appeared in 49 games for the Redbirds over the last two seasons and reached double figures in five outings.
The Redbirds are coming off a weekend sweep of Indiana State and Evansville last week on the road, improving Illinois State to 10-4 in league play this season. Illinois State is set to host a pivotal showdown Thursday night inside CEFCU Arena, as Belmont visits Normal for the Redbirds 'Blackout' game. All fans are encouraged to wear black, while the first 600 students will receive a replica black jersey. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
Pedon's portion of the show starts at 6:45 p.m. and is hosted by John Fitzgerald and Mike Matthews. He is set to be joined by sophomore standout Johnny Kinziger. Kinziger is averaging 15.2 points per game for the Redbirds this season on 46.1% shooting from the field and 42.4% shooting from deep. He has totaled 20+ points in seven games on the season, including the last two outings.
The Redbird men are also hosting a prime showdown this week, as Bradley comes to CEFCU Arena for the 142nd edition of the I-74 Rivalry. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m., before the Redbirds hit the road to take on Missouri State Saturday at 7 p.m.
Fans are invited to watch Monday's show live at Rob Dob's. However, for those unable to attend the show in person, it will be broadcast live on WJBC 1230 AM, the Varsity Network, and on the Illinois State Athletics Facebook page.
The Illinois State Basketball Coaches Show, presented by The O'Brien Auto Team will take a one-week hiatus due to team travel next week, but is set to return March 3 at Avanti's and March 10 back at Rob Dob's.
