HUNTINGTON, W.V.-- The Illinois State women's tennis team (4-4) fell to the No. 43 nationally-ranked Marshall Thundering Herd (9-1) of the Sun Belt Conference by a score of 4-0 on Friday inside Brian David Fox Tennis Center.
The Birds will return to action tomorrow against Radford University (1-1). First serve will be at 12:00 p.m. This week, Illinois State had juniors Silvia Pomarolli and Lana Caculovic named to the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week.
In doubles play, Caculovic and Pomarolli defeated Alina Mokrynskaya/Emma Vanderheyden of the Marshall Thundering Herd by a score of 6-4. The Redbirds jumped out to an early lead but Mokrynskaya and Vanderheyden rattled off two points to fall in narrow fashion to the reigning MVC pair of the week.
